
Marijke Van Buggenhout is a criminologist and member of the Research Group Crime & Society (CRiS) at the Vrije Universiteit Brussels (VUB). Her research interests lie in the field of youth criminology, migration and asylum, decision making processes, empirical children’s rights and voicing socially excluded groups. In her doctoral research, she investigates the asylum procedures for children/young adults from a human and children’s rights perspective, aiming at providing insight in how these procedures are conducted in daily practice and how young asylum seekers are experiencing them.
