A Short Introduction

VOICE is an interdisciplinary research group at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), bringing together VUB research groups from the Departments of Sociology (QRIA – Qualitative Research in Action, Law (FRC – Fundamental Rights and Constitutionalism), Criminology (CRiS – Crime & Society), Sports Education (SASO- Sport & Society) and Teacher Training, with the aim to do research from the perspective of children and youngsters at social risk due to (extreme) poverty, migration, social exclusion, violence,  armed conflicts and war.

HISTORY

Based on the adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) in 1989.

OBJECTIVE

Worldwide, nearly 600 million or about 20% of children live in extreme poverty.

STRUCTURE

The interdisciplinary research group VOICE includes next VUB research groups.
